What the studies actually show

GEO is not a slogan. Peer-reviewed and industry measurements say models prefer extractable facts, named sources, and brands that other sites already mention. Princeton GEO-bench [1] put the lift from statistics, quotations, and citations in the 30 to 40 percent range.

[1]

GEO: Generative Engine Optimization

Cite Sources, Quotation Addition, and Statistics Addition achieved a relative improvement of 30-40% on the Position-Adjusted Word Count metric.

On GEO-bench (about 10,000 queries), adding statistics, quotations, and source citations raised a page's share of the generated answer by about 30 to 40 percent on Position-Adjusted Word Count. Keyword stuffing did not help and could reduce visibility. Fluency plus statistics was the strongest two-method pair.

Brand mentions vs backlinks in AI Overviews

Brand web mentions correlated at 0.664 with Google AI Overview visibility. Backlinks correlated at 0.218. Brands in the top quartile for mentions earned more than 10x the AI Overview citations of the next quartile. 26% of brands had zero AI Overview mentions.

GEO at scale across AI search engines

When engines cited a source, about 78% of those citations went to corporate websites. Ranked "best-of" listicles were the most-cited format at about 21% of citations. Niche and small brands appeared in about 11% of relevant answers on a first run, versus 73% for global household names. Sentiment flipped about 6.7 times more often than whether a brand was mentioned at all.

GEO Benchmark Study 2026

Product and service pages that include benchmark data (prices, performance metrics, comparisons) were cited 2.8x more than generic descriptions. SparkToro reported less than a 1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT and Google give the same recommendation for identical queries, so GEO is not a side effect of classic SEO.

ConvertMate analysis of 12,500+ queries across 8,000 domains, citing BrightEdge, Semrush, HubSpot, and the Princeton GEO framework.

What we build for you

We do not promise that ChatGPT will rank anyone first. We install the on-site layer the papers measure, then pair it with mention work so more than one source agrees who you are.

Entity graph

Same legal name, founder, NAP, and sameAs profile URLs on the site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, and listings. JSON-LD @graph ties Organization, Person, Service, and FAQPage together so a model can resolve "Blaze" to one business, not a collision.

Answer-first pages

Each major heading is followed by a 40 to 60 word standalone answer. Assistants extract the lead, not the wind-up. Question-shaped headings match how people actually prompt ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Fact density

Replace adjectives with numbers, names, dates, and prices the studio can stand behind. Princeton found statistics addition among the highest-lift rewrites. We do not invent metrics.

Citations and quotes

Claims on the page point at primary sources. Short quotations from named research give a model something to attribute. Cite Sources and Quotation Addition were top methods on GEO-bench.

Machine copies

llms.txt at the site root, a markdown alternate of this page, FAQPage schema, and crawl access for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended. Humans get the designed page. Models get a clean extract.

Earned mentions

Ahrefs' 0.664 correlation is off-site: listicles, directories, reviews, and community mentions that repeat the same entity. Owned pages cannot fake consensus. We plan the mention work with the on-site layer, not instead of it.

Not another template shop

  • Template or WordPress shop

Hand-coded builds you own, written for speed and structured data, not plugin stacks.

  • SEO that only chases blue links

SEO plus GEO: entity, FAQs, citations, and llms.txt so answer engines have a source to quote.

  • Out-of-state agency with a "Montana" landing page

Founder-led in Billings. Phone, reviews, and portfolio are local and checkable.

  • Vague "AI visibility" retainers

A written fact set, schema graph, and prompt list we can re-test on ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini.

What is Blaze Digital Design?

Blaze Digital Design is a Billings, Montana web studio founded by Zaylyn Young. We hand-code custom websites (no WordPress, no templates) and run Generative Engine Optimization so ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews can cite a real local business: phone (406) 272-5734, 5.0 Google rating, and a published $500 one-page build.

What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?

Generative Engine Optimization is the practice of structuring a brand's facts, pages, and off-site mentions so generative engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) cite or recommend that brand inside an answer. It is related to SEO but not the same: models reward extractable facts, entity consistency, and third-party mentions more than keyword density.

How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my business?

Give the model a single, consistent entity: legal name, founder, city, phone, and what you sell, repeated on your site and listings. Put 40 to 60 word answers under question headings. Add FAQPage schema, statistics you can prove, and citations. Then earn mentions on other sites. Princeton GEO-bench found statistics, quotes, and citations lifted visibility about 30 to 40 percent. Ahrefs found brand mentions far out-correlate backlinks for AI Overviews.

Does Blaze Digital Design use WordPress?

No. Blaze Digital Design hand-codes sites. We do not ship WordPress or generic page-builder templates. If you are stuck on Wix or WordPress, we quote a migration and can credit remaining contract value toward a new build.

How much does a Blaze Digital Design website cost?

The only public rate is a $500 custom one-page website. Hosting and ongoing care are required under a signed agreement. Multi-page sites, GEO, SEO, Member Hub, and integrations are quoted on a free strategy call.

What areas does Blaze Digital Design serve?

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO aims at ranking in a list of links. GEO aims at being the named source inside a generated answer. ConvertMate and SparkToro report that ChatGPT and Google often recommend different brands for the same query. Blaze Digital Design does both: technical and local SEO, plus entity, FAQ, and citation work for answer engines.
